Find out the eligibility criteria and onboarding documents to become a broker

Becoming a broker

  • 1.Certificate IV in Mortgage Broking (or Diploma)
    • The first action to take is to attain your Cert IV in Mortgage Broking
    • You can visit AAMC Website to complete your course online
    • Cost: Approximately $597 (one off)
    • You are free to choose any other license provider
  • 2.Anti-money laundering certificate
    • No more than 2 years old (Refresher or New can be done online via aamctraining.edu.au)
    • If new to the finance industry, please provide MFAA / FBAA initial Compliance pack
  • 3.Industry body membership
    • Current FBAA or MFAA Membership Certificate
    • FBAA → fbaa.com.au
    • Will provide mentor certificate once onboarding contract is signed (Contact us for mentor letter)
    • MFAA → mfaa.com.au
    • Cost: FBAA $499 yearly
    • If onboarding under corporate, both company and loan writer must be member
  • 4.AFCA (Australian Financial Complaints Authority) certificate
    • Visit afca.org.au/members
    • Apply for membership (ACRs)
    • Use 100702 as licensee
    • Cost: $65.98 per year
    • If onboarding under corporate, both company and loan writer must be member
  • 5.Professional indemnity
  • 6.Police clearance
    • Must be less than 90 days old at time of submission
    • You can apply at afp.gov.au
    • Cost: $42 (one off)
  • 7.Driver's licence & Medicare/Passport
    • Preferably Drivers Licence and Passport
    • If Passport is unavailable, Medicare or Birth Certificate is required
  • 8.Resume
    • This is required for many Panel Lenders and must be current and professional
    • Must include your most recent employer/employment and listed 2 contactable referees
    • Referees must have been your previous supervisor/employer
  • 9.Bank statement
    • The first page of your bank statement
  • 10.Citizenship certificate/IMMI visa grant notification
    • If Passport is not an Australian Passport we will require a Citizenship Certificate OR IMMI Visa Grant notification
  • 11.Exit letter from the previous aggregator
    • Applicable for transfers only
    • Exit letter must include the phrase “left under no adverse circumstances”
  • 12.Trust deed
    • If your ABN is linked to a Trust
